Degree paid upfront	Tuition remission (non-RBHS positions): a regularly appointed full-time staff member paid at or below $106,586 gets FULL tuition remission at Rutgers for themselves; above that salary it drops to 50%. Because the cut-off is a salary figure, hourly and lower-paid staff get the 100% tier. Dependent children of a full-time employee are separately eligible for undergraduate tuition remission (first baccalaureate degree, up to 10 terms for a 4-year degree). Graduate remission above $5,250/year is taxable and subject to NJ state tax withholding.
Union contract	Dependent-child tuition remission at Rutgers is granted pursuant to negotiated union agreements as well as university policy, so for represented staff the benefit sits in a collective agreement rather than an HR discretion.
