Aeva is a public (NYSE: AEVA) deep-tech company building 4D FMCW LiDAR sensing hardware and perception software for autonomous vehicles, trucking, and industrial metrology. It was founded in 2016 by two former Apple Special Projects engineers, Soroush Salehian and Mina Rezk, went public via a 2021 SPAC merger, and won a marquee production contract with Daimler Truck/Torc. Expect a small (~300-person), hardware- and photonics-heavy engineering culture with real automotive-grade stakes; the honest caveat is that it is a post-SPAC, pre-large-scale-revenue public hardware company, so the environment carries the volatility and intensity of a lidar startup rather than the stability of an established chipmaker.
