Santa Clara, CA · founded 2004
Arista Networks is a Santa Clara data-center and campus networking company, born out of Arastra in 2004 and led for years by Jayshree Ullal, that competes with Cisco on high-speed switching and increasingly on AI-cluster networking. It is an engineering-dense, financially disciplined place: employees describe genuinely good work-life balance, flexible hours and hands-off, technically strong managers, but also modest base pay that lags big-tech peers, with equity (which has run up hard) doing much of the compensation work. If you want deep networking-software work without FAANG intensity, it fits; if you're optimizing for cash comp or fast, legible promotions, go in with eyes open.
