| State health cover | Employers must provide cooperative health insurance for every non-Saudi employee and their dependants. The Council of Health Insurance's Basic Health Insurance Policy is the minimum any approved insurer may sell. Its psychiatric line reads 'Up to a maximum of 50,000 Saudi riyals for psychological conditions during the policy period' -- about USD 13,300 a year, roughly sixty times Dubai's mandatory minimum for the same benefit. The covered conditions are named: 'Depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety or stress, alcohol or drug use (not include hospitalization for rehabilitation), anger management, dealing with grief or loss, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders.' Autism and Alzheimer's are separately listed as covered. Hospitalisation for addiction rehabilitation is excluded. (Saudi Labor Law art. 109) |
