documented benefits (3)

Paid trainingCFISD advertises paid training for transportation roles all year round, and its bus driver training programme is far longer than the state minimum: Texas requires a 20-hour certification course plus eight hours every three years, while CFISD expects drivers to log on average 80 additional hours behind the wheel before they carry children. No repayment or service-commitment clause is published.
No experience neededBus driver: no diploma, GED or prior experience is required. The published bar is being at least 18, passing an annual physical, obtaining and maintaining a CDL with the right endorsements, a clean DPS driving and criminal record, a negative drug and alcohol test, and completing or enrolling in the state School Bus Driver Certification Course. Unlike districts that pay for the licence, CFISD requires the applicant to obtain the CDL. Starting pay is $23.46 an hour for drivers and $16.49 for bus attendants.
Works around classesBus driver shifts average 6.5 hours a day across CFISD's five transportation centres, and drivers can pick which centre they work from - the split morning and afternoon school-run shape of the job, in the district's own posting.
