Deel is a global payroll, HR and employer-of-record platform founded in 2019 by MIT graduates Alex Bouaziz and Shuo Wang to let companies hire employees and contractors across borders. It is aggressively remote and fully distributed — a 'work-from-anywhere' company with no traditional headquarters — and the culture it advertises is fast, flat and high-accountability, explicitly warning that people who want 'a stable and highly predictable work week' will not be a fit. The honest caveat is that Deel has been a magnet for legal drama: a 2025 corporate-espionage fight with rival Rippling, an anti-money-laundering RICO suit (dismissed August 2025), and a DOJ criminal inquiry opened in January 2026 into the spying allegations.
