London · founded 2014
Faculty is a London AI company (formerly 'Advanced Skills Initiative') founded in 2014 that started as a fellowship converting PhD graduates into data scientists and grew into an applied-AI consultancy and product firm. It works across financial services, life sciences, energy and — prominently — UK government, defence and national security, and is a red-teaming partner to OpenAI. The stated culture leans on trust, autonomy and 'conspicuously smart and kind' colleagues doing high-impact work. Honest caveats: it is a client-driven consultancy, so work is project- and delivery-shaped; the heavy defence/national-security and government footprint won't suit everyone; and the company has drawn press scrutiny over past Vote Leave / Cambridge Analytica links and pandemic-era government contracts. In January 2026 Accenture agreed to acquire Faculty for over £600m, so expect integration change.
