Google DeepMind is Alphabet's AI research lab, formed by merging the original London-founded DeepMind with Google Brain under CEO Demis Hassabis. It is a research-first, mission-driven place ('build AI responsibly to benefit humanity') behind AlphaGo and AlphaFold — the latter earning Hassabis a share of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Expect a scientist-and-engineer culture and prestige, but note it is a very large organisation inside Google, so pay/benefits specifics are not published publicly and are shared only late in the recruiting process.
