HashiCorp builds the infrastructure-automation tools that a lot of cloud engineering runs on: Terraform (infrastructure as code), Vault (secrets), Consul (service mesh) and Nomad (scheduling). Founded in 2012 by Mitchell Hashimoto and Armon Dadgar, it went public in 2021 and was acquired by IBM in a $6.4B deal that closed in February 2025 — so it now operates inside IBM, and its careers/benefits pages redirect there. Culturally it is genuinely remote-first and heavily writing-driven: practices are documented in a public 'How HashiCorp Works' handbook and a set of nine principles (integrity, kindness, pragmatism, humility, vision, execution, communication, 'Beauty Works Better', reflection). Caveat: with the IBM integration underway, day-to-day culture and benefits are shifting toward IBM's, and independent benefit specifics were hard to source.
