New York, NY · founded 2019
Materialize is an operational data warehouse: a SQL streaming database that keeps query results incrementally up to date in real time. It is built on the open-source Timely Dataflow and Differential Dataflow frameworks that cofounder Frank McSherry created at Microsoft Research. Founded in 2019, it is a venture-backed NYC startup (roughly $100M raised from Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed, and Redpoint) with a small, globally distributed engineering-heavy team and a permanent New York office. Honest caveat: it is a young company and publishes little about culture or benefits beyond a short careers-page list, so much here is undocumented.
