Nextracker

Fremont, CA · founded 2014

Nextracker (legally renamed Nextpower Inc. in a late-2025 rebrand, but still trading on Nasdaq as NXT and using the Nextracker brand) is a Fremont, California solar-technology company. It makes the motorized single-axis trackers that tilt utility-scale solar panels to follow the sun, plus the software that controls them. Founded in 2014 by Dan Shugar, it was owned by contract manufacturer Flex before a February 2023 IPO that raised about $638M, and it has grown into a roughly $3B-revenue business with around 2,000 employees across eight offices worldwide. Expect a hardware-and-energy engineering/manufacturing culture rather than a cushy consumer-tech shop, with a stated 'meritocracy' and pay-for-performance philosophy and a strong safety focus. Honest caveat: only about half the workforce is U.S.-based (India is the second-largest hub), and the company publishes no detailed public benefits page, so day-to-day perks are hard to verify from the outside.
