How healthcare is paid forOmani nationals are treated free in Ministry of Health facilities. For private-sector workers a unified mandatory health insurance policy, 'Dhamani', entered into force in January 2023 but is being introduced in stages and is not yet fully operative — the rollout depends on the electronic platform and has been repeatedly extended. Separately, the Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023) Article 57 requires that where a worker is treated in a government or private hospital and there is no health insurance cover, the employer bears the cost of treatment, medication and hospital stay.
