Reddit

San Francisco, CA · founded 2005

Reddit is remote-first and, on paper, still rates well for work-life balance — but the mood shifted after the March 2024 IPO. Reviewers describe a "used to have great benefits and culture" arc: perks trimmed, constant reorgs, and management marks that stay low, with complaints about bureaucracy and unclear strategy. Growth trajectories feel murky to a lot of people, and the pre-2022 startup energy has tightened into something more corporate. Most pointedly, at least one review alleges the environment has become hostile to women and is pushing them out — a minority voice, but one worth weighing seriously if that's your lens. It can be a flexible, high-visibility place to work on a product millions love, as long as you go in knowing it's mid-transition.
