Stability AI is the British generative-AI company behind Stable Diffusion, the open-weights text-to-image model that helped kick off the 2022 image-generation boom (350M+ downloads). It has since expanded into audio, video, 3D and language models and repositioned as an 'enterprise-ready' partner for creators and studios. Be aware it has been turbulent: founder-CEO Emad Mostaque resigned in March 2024 amid reported cash strain and departures, after which Prem Akkaraju (ex-Weta Digital) became CEO and Sean Parker executive chairman, with James Cameron later joining the board. It has also faced high-profile copyright litigation (Getty Images), which it largely won in a November 2025 UK High Court ruling. It publishes almost nothing about pay, benefits or day-to-day culture, so treat this page as sparse by design.
