Tonal makes a wall-mounted smart home gym that uses digital (electromagnetic) resistance and AI-guided coaching for strength training, invented by supercomputer engineer Aly Orady after he grew frustrated with commercial gyms. It's a mission-driven connected-fitness company that pitches itself around helping 'everyone find their inner strength,' with a fun, team-oriented culture. Worth knowing: connected fitness is a volatile hardware sector, and Tonal has had leadership turnover — Orady led as CEO through 2023 then moved to CTO, and Todd Bartee took over as CEO in February 2026.
