the legal floor where they are
Set by law, not by Venus Concept Inc. It applies to every employer in Toronto.
| PTO | 10 (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
|---|---|
| Birthing-parent leave | 15 (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
| Partner leave | 5 (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
| State health cover | provincial health insurance covers medically necessary care. (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
| How healthcare is paid for | Provincial single-payer medicare funded from taxation. Medically necessary hospital and physician services are free at the point of use with no user charge, but each province runs its own plan and card. What medicare does NOT cover surprises newcomers: prescription drugs taken outside hospital, dental, vision, chiropractic and ambulance are all outside the public plan, funded only for targeted groups and differing province by province. That is why employer extended-health and dental cover is a substantive part of Canadian pay rather than a nicety. (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
| IVF cycles the state covers | ONTARIO ONLY, and this is provincial rather than national: one IVF cycle per patient per lifetime at participating clinics, requiring an Ontario health card and age under 43. Fertility MEDICATIONS are not funded and cost roughly CAD 5,000 a cycle, nor is genetic testing or storage. Other provinces fund fertility treatment differently or not at all, so this must not be read as a Canadian figure. (Canada Labour Code Part III) |
