San Francisco, CA · founded 2017
Weights & Biases builds MLOps developer tools — experiment tracking, a model registry, and tooling for building generative-AI applications — used widely by machine-learning teams. Founded in 2017 by Lukas Biewald, Chris Van Pelt and Shawn Lewis (the company says it 'was born behind a karate studio in San Francisco'), it is remote-first with a globally distributed team of roughly 270. Honest caveat: W&B was acquired by CoreWeave in May 2025, so it now operates inside a larger public-infrastructure company and job listings route through CoreWeave; the San Francisco headquarters is nominal given the remote-first, distributed setup.
