San Jose, CA · founded 2011
Zoom is the video-communications company that became a verb during the pandemic, headquartered in downtown San Jose. Post-2020 it has been in a different phase: growth normalized, the stock came well off its highs, and the company reoriented around an AI-first 'Zoom Workplace' platform and contact-center products rather than pure video. Culture is pragmatic and product-focused, and founder Eric Yuan is still CEO. Benefits are solid and standard-strong for a mature public tech company, including medical, dental, vision and mental health, both-parent parental leave, fertility support, ESPP and RSUs, and pre-tax commuter benefits. Like most of the sector it went through layoffs in 2023 and has pushed a hybrid return-to-office. A reasonable pick for people who want an established Bay Area public company with dependable benefits rather than startup upside.
